Prof. mult. hc / China Dr. med. Frank R. Bahr, (1944 - 2025), studied medicine from 1963 to 1969 at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. State examination and doctorate in 1969. After working as a medical assistant, he trained at the Institute of Anesthesiology at the University of Munich. From 1972 onwards, he practiced as a general practitioner. From 1972 onwards, he studied Classical Chinese Acupuncture and Ear Acupuncture in China, Germany, and France, among other places. Founder and long-time president of the German Academy for Acupuncture and Auriculomedicine (DAA), Munich, founded in 1973/74. From 1974 to the present: research work on ear acupuncture in close collaboration with Dr. Paul Nogier, Lyon, President of the European Academy for Traditional Chinese Medicine (founded in 1980), research in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 1998 he was appointed visiting professor at Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where he was already an honorary member of the teaching staff during the Cultural Revolution in 1975. In 2000 he was appointed honorary professor of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, acupuncture research at the Institute of Applied Chemistry in Beijing. In 2001 he was appointed honorary professor at Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and in 2014 he was appointed senior professor and official member of the teaching staff with authorization to train for the university title of Master of Acupuncture. Honorary President of the German Academy of Acupuncture, the Austrian Society for Controlled Acupuncture and Honorary President of the Swiss Medical Association for Auriculomedicine and Acupuncture. He is the author of numerous books, lecture notes and numerous teaching charts in German, English and Chinese, and has published hundreds of publications over 40 years in various scientific journals, including: in Science and The Lancet.
